Okay so if you are to look at the numbers the average pickup truck owner is male, off the top of my head I can’t think of any of my female friends that own or even regularly drive a pickup truck. However that is no reason for the Amarok not to appeal to women, all the reasons that I am seeing in the newsletter subscription can equally apply to men and women.
The reason that I bring this up is that I found an article for what appears to be an all female rally across the Sahara. The Australian team behind the article appears to have a lot of fun, despite missing out on a lot of the pre-training that was required. This particular rally bans all electronics and participants have to navigate by compass and 1950 maps. My favourite bit is where they indicate that Gazelles don’t get lost they just stray, a stranded vehicle will be left to fend for itself for up to 2 days before rally organizers intervene.
Edit: Just a quick update on this post, the name of the Rally is the Rallye Aicha Des Gazelles and when I showed my girlfriend the article she told me that we have a friend from Montréal who has competed in this rally in the past.
